The Best Highlighters
(Highstreet and High-end)

This year highlighting and contouring has become the biggest make-up trend to happen. Whilst I am a strong fan of contouring I prefer to pack on the highlight as I am so pale its just easier for me than to spend hours blending in contour. This blog post shows some of my favourite highlights I love.

Mineralize Skinfinish
Mac's Mineralize Skinfinish in the shade 'Soft and Gentle' is quickly becoming a cult classic for highlighters. At £24 it is quite expensive however you get a large amount of product and it will not be running out any time soon. This shade is a golden champagne colour and only a tiny amount is needed to give bright dewy skin.

Laura Mercier Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator
'Guilded Honey' highlighter from Laura Mercier is one of those products that I have heard about from every blogger and youtuber so when I was bought it I was so excited to see if it could live up to the hype. It is. The highlight gives off a stunning gold with reflective glitter thats leaves such a bright sheen onto the cheekbone and works so well for nights out when I have full make-up on. The only downside to this highlight is the price, at £21.00 it is very much on the pricey side for a highlight.

Soft&Gentle, Guilded Honey and Barekissed with flash.

Sleek MakeUP Barekissed Illuminator
Sleek's Barekissed Illuminator is the only liquid highlighter I own. After a few attempts of putting this on without smearing off any foundation and other products underneath I have found a way to apply this by gently patting it onto the skin with my little finger. The shade 'Monaco' is perfect for us extremely pale people as it is completely silver/ pink and cool toned, but still stands out and leaves a great shine.

Golden Lights, Peach Lights and Pink Lights.

Makeup Revolution Highlighter Palette
First of all this palette is £8 for three full size highlights! This palette contains Makeup Revolution's most popular highlight shades: 'Peach Lights, Pink Lights and Golden Lights'.  The shades are very different from a peach, to a silvery pink and a gold, so there is a highlight for each possible occasion and makeup look. I always go to grab this palette and particularly love the shade Peach Lights and the shade Pink Lights works perfectly with subtle pink eye makeup for a whole pink look.

Kylie Lip Kit: Posie K Review and Swatches

Unless you've been away from the internet for the past six months you will have heard about Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits. With new shades and effects being added and all items constantly selling out I waited until I had seen reviews on these Lip Kits before investing. I bought the shade 'Posie K', a dark pink shade.

Shipping
I ordered my Lip Kit on the 6th June and it arrived on my door on the 15th June. A week isn't bad in my book for something to come all the way from the US. Shipping to the UK cost $14.95, which is around £10.50. My order wasn't called in to pay any customs luckily but I know that other people have had to pay more money for theirs.

First Impressions
Firstly, the lipstick has an amazing scent almost like a vanilla cupcake. It smells as though it could actually be eaten.
The second thing I noticed was how true to colour the product is along with the packaging, it's a dark yet bright pink that drys into a matte finish.
The packaging is also so chic and looks so pretty just to have on show.

Wearing The Lip Kit
Honestly, this lipliner might just be one of the best lipliners ever. It's so creamy and applies so well to the lips without smudging or the colour wearing off. This lipliner could be used just on its own to create a lip look without the layering of the slightly brighter liquid lipstick.
The lipstick also applies very well and the applicator allows it to be applied easily. The lipstick does take a while to dry matte, however once it does eventually dry it stays on the lips forever and will not rub off!

Overall
Overall I would say these Lip Kits are definitely worth the money as they are some of the best formulas for liquid lipsticks I have used. The staying power of this liquid lipstick is amazing, and I didn't have to top it up at all during the day. However I would still only buy the colours that are the most wearable rather than the darker shades such as 'Kourt K' and 'Dead of Knight' as I don't think I would get enough wear from these to make them worth their price.

Have any of you got any Kylie Lip Kits and do you love them as much as me?

Favourite Summer Lip Products

Since its summer and the weather is getting warmer (well hopefully) there are number of lipsticks or lip products that I just love to wear in summer as they are bright and happy colours.

Mac Mehr
As someone who owns more Mac lipsticks than someone should, I think I may have found my favourite one yet. The shade 'Mehr' is a dark raspberry pink which I have been wearing near enough to every day for the past to months. To make it even better the Mac lipliner 'Soar' matches this perfectly! I could seriously wear this lipstick every day and still love it.

Too Faced Melted Lipsticks
Too Faced really know how to nail packaging. These melted lipsticks are too cute and I love having them out on display. My favourite shade that I just love for summer is 'Melted Peony' which is a a pale pink, however when built up the colour can be made brighter. The lipsticks don't dry and will stay on you lips leaving a nice beautiful sheen and it is so incredibly long lasting.

NYX Liquid Suede
The NYX Liquid Suede are liquid lipsticks which dry to a matte finish. I own many shades of these however my favourite one to wear in summer is 'Tea and Cookies,' a rose pink. The colour is quite bright but matched with the right eye look it can be worn very day, and works well without looking to build. The formulas are easy to wear and have good staying power without transferring onto anything.
Mehr, Melted Peony, Tea and Cookies, Naked Lipgloss and No7 lip balm.

Urban Decay Naked Lipgloss
After wearing so many matte lipsticks and liquid lipsticks for long it was a strange feeling to be wearing a lipgloss again but the formulas of these lip glosses are perfect. This is the shade 'Nooner' which is a nude colour. Although it appears quiet orange on the skin it comes out a dark nude on the lips. I love this lipgloss as it keeps your lips feeling super hydrated and plumps them through out the day.

Mehr, Melted Peony, Tea and Cookies, Naked Lipgloss and NO7 lip balm.

No 7 Tinted Lip Balm
Although this isn't technically a lipstick its been added to this as sometimes, when I know I'm going to be very busy or when its very warm, I don't want to wear much makeup and therefore this tinted lip balm is perfect. It keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day whilst providing them with SPF also. The shade 'Parisian Pink' provides the lips with a sheer pink shade which is just enough to give your lips a splash of colour.

Kiko Milano Cosmetics

Moving to Bath has meant that some of the shops I used to regularly buy my make-up are no longer available to me, so I've had to explore some new shops and brands to find more make-up (even though I probably don't need anymore.)

One of the shops I've found is Kiko Milano, which I'd heard of before moving but had never been able to get to a store to try anything out. Here are a few products that I have bought there and loved.

Cream Crush Lasting Eyeshadow
I bought this eyeshadow in the colour 05, and its honestly one of the most beautiful eyeshadow colours I've ever seen. Its a cream eyeshadow and it's a champagne/ gold colour packed with glitter. It so glittery that I often put it on top of anther eyeshadow as the gold doesn't always pay off, rather the glitter just shows up over the top of other shades. This eyeshadow gives off the best, glittery colour and will last through out a whole day, even those long nights out!

Gossamer Lipstick 109

Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipstick
Let me say these lipsticks live up to the name. They are so creamy. I own the colour 109 Amaranth, which is a bold mauve colour, although there are still hints of pink in it. It is easy to apply and as I said they are so creamy so really leave your lips feeling healthy and hydrated. However I am used to wearing mainly matte lipsticks so I do find that this lipstick can smear easily and rub off in places.
Velvet Matte Liptstick 613

Velvet Matte Satin Lipstick
These lipsticks have a gorgeous glossy texture that is comfortable to wear all day. There are 25 shades to choose from and I have the shade 613 which is a dark pink, almost a raspberry pink. The lipstick is matte yet isn't drying to the lips at all and the colours last for a long time throughout the day.

Also just to let everyone know my blog is now on Bloglovin, a website where you can follow all your favourite blogs together in one place easily rather than saving all the separate websites. So please give me a follow there as well. Thanks!

Zoeva En Taupe Palette

I was looking for new makeup brushes on the Zoeva website when I found this beautiful eyeshadow palette called the En Taupe palette. The palette contains 10 eyeshadows which are shades of pinks, purple, silvers and a few shades of taupe browns. I ordered this from the Zoeva website and where it costs €17.50 which is around £13/14 here in the UK.
I love this palette so much and my favourite look from this palette is to use the white shade, Stitch by Stitch as a base for the whole eyelid, which I then darken up by using the matte pink shade Hour by Hour. I then layer a shimmery pink, Handmade over the lid before using Outline, the dark shimmery purple with gold specks, along my crease to darken out the eye colour.
The silver colour, Spun Pearl is also perfect to use for the inner corner with any eyeshadow look as it is so bright and reflective.
This palette is perfect for the spring time with the light pinks and purples and will look lovely on a sunny day with a cute outfit on!

Things University Has Taught Me

I've been at university for nearly six months now and I know I don't post as much as I should do on this blog, so I thought I would make a list of things that my life at university has taught me so far and any unusual things that I have noticed.
Got to love fancy dress!

1. You will have NO sleeping pattern.
Essays will be written at 3am on the day they're due in even if you started them weeks in advance and Netflix or Youtube will come before the sleep needed for your 9am seminars.

2.You will make friends with people that you never imagined yourself getting along with.
There are so many people all being thrown into the same situation as you and you're bound to find something in common with these people and become friends with them even if they weren't the sort of people you could have ever imagined yourself getting along with before.

3.There is no such thing as too much, or bad alcohol.
Believe me, you can drink so much at pre drinks that you don't think you could get any worse, but when you get to the club you can always manage a few more drinks, £1 jäger bombs will always do the trick. The cheaper the alcohol you buy the better ( Lidl Rosé and Peach Schnapps is the way to go in our group.) Though this tip has usually ended in some interesting nights out with my friends!

4.You will survive on naps.
Got home after a lecture? Nap. Going on a night out later? Nap. Tired but it's too early to go to bed? Nap. It always happens.

5. The North South Divide is real.
People who haven't crossed this boundary to go to their university probably haven't seen how important and harsh this boundary can be. As a Northern having moved down South for university you find out just how different people think you are and how much people will stereotype you. Its vicious.

6. There is no such thing as Salmonella.
Living with two boys and not being the cleanest myself, our kitchen has been in some states, and you will soon learn that the cleanliness of your family kitchen at home will never be achieved unless its the last day of term of the first day back. Yet no one ever gets ill from this (even if you only wash your tea towels once a term.)

7. You are not as grown up as you thought you were.
You thought that you were now mature and grown up living away from your parents and studying, however you quickly realise you really aren't.  You will get so drunk you will be in states you didn't know existed, you will go days without eating properly or eating purely junk food, you will cry when you miss home, watch Netflix all day to avoid your responsibilities and miss lectures if you can get away without going. You really aren't as mature as you thought, and love it when you can go home and be babied for a while.

8. Your friends become your family.
The group of friends you make will soon know more about you than anyone else ever has and you will see them so often, that a day without seeing them soon feels too long. These will be the people that you will always go to advice for and will ask for all of their judgements on every little decision. My group of girls have become my family and I couldn't live without them, even our stupid and annoying conversations.

These girls are now my family:)
Endings to nights are.. interesting?

Favourite Foundations

Rimmel Wake Me Up
I've been using the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation for around 2 years and it's such a good foundation. There are glitter particles in this which gives your skin a great glow and it leaves the skin looking fresh. I've found that this is better applied with a foundation brush, rather than a sponge as it has quite a thick consistency, however it isn't too thick on the skin.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid
This foundation is a bit more pricey as it's £22 for the bottle but Mac is a high end brand. The colour match of this foundation to my skin is perfect as Mac have so many shades that you can choose from. This foundation is absolutely amazing at covering any imperfections on your skin. I mean it literally covers everything I want it to! It's definitely not a foundation to wear every day as it is so thick I feel that it would cause me to break out in spots, but I do love it and always wear it for nights out or seeing friends. The only drawback of this foundation is that it doesn't come with a pump so it's hard to get the right amount of product out onto your hand, although pumps can be bought separately from the Mac website.

LOreal True Match
This is my new absolute favourite foundation. I bought this as one of my friends told me she used this foundation, and her makeup always looks perfect so I thought I should try this foundation out. My first thought was the the foundation is very thin and liquidy which lead me to believe that it wouldn't give a very good coverage, however I was proved wrong. This foundation gives such a good medium coverage and can easily be built up to a full coverage without it looking too cakey. I absolutely love this foundation and it's such good value as it's only £8.99 for a bottle.

Bourjois Healthy Mix
I've heard about this foundation everywhere and I finally decided to try it out. There are two types of foundation in this range, the full foundation and a lighter one for less coverage. I bought the full foundation as I always prefer foundations that can give the most coverage. This foundation gives your skin a lovely glow and it would be amazing for summer, although it doesn't give a large amount of coverage to the skin and I could still see my freckles and blemishes through it.

L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte
I'm just recently discovering how good L'Oreal is as a brand and just how cheap and worth the money their products are.  I was reluctant to try this foundation as it looked very thick and like it would paint my face, but I was pleasantly surprised as it doesn't look too cakey on my face. The downside of this foundation is that you can feel it on your face and it does feel very heavy to wear for long period of times, so I wouldn't suggest it as a daily foundation.
